What is FlashClass?

FlashClass is HSLS’ series of one-hour classes offered with the same social media approach as popular deal-of-the-day web sites such as Groupon and Living Social.

How does it work?

Two FlashClass topics are offered each week via e-vites (e-mail invitations). HSLS patrons may sign up for one or both classes to be taught the following week.

Each FlashClass is held only if 3 or more people sign up for it. If fewer sign up, the class will not take place during the following week, but the topic will be recycled for offering again at a future date. We’ll keep you posted via email as classes you sign up for are confirmed or recycled.

What are the classes about?

HSLS librarians are developing FlashClasses on a variety of information-related topics, including many we have not offered before. The goal is not only to shorten the time between announcing a class and teaching it, but also to cover unique topics that may be of special interest to small groups of our patrons.

How do I sign up?

If you're already on the HSLS Update mailing list, you'll automatically receive FlashClass e-vites (e-mail invitations) each week. If not, you can sign up to be added to our FlashClass Subscription List (@pitt.edu e-mail addresses only, please).
