History of Medicine

HSLS’s History of medicine collection includes more than 10,000 books supporting the research in the historical aspects of health professions, medical education and research, military medicine and ethics, diseases, development of drugs and therapies, hospital care, epidemiology, substance abuse, medical care and policy.

The collection contains biographies, memoirs and personal narratives of doctors and scientists active in the health related research. The circulating collection has also numerous facsimiles and reprints of important medical text in lieu of originals.
