Kniseley Art Collection

Displayed throughout Falk Library are paintings donated by Dr. Ralph M. Kniseley. Dr. Kniseley is both an accomplished artist and an alumnus. He received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1943. After completing a residency at the Mayo Clinic, he pursued a medical career as a clinician, educator, and administrator. He was instrumental in developing the specialty of Nuclear Medicine at the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, where he served as chief of research and training. Dr. Kniseley served as Director of the Life Sciences Division of the International Atomic Energy Association in Vienna. He has co-edited three books on nuclear medicine, and is a recipient of the Georg de Hevesy Pioneer in Nuclear Medicine award and several other medals from professional societies. A lifelong painter and sculptor, Dr. Kniseley has exhibited his works in both one-man and juried shows.
