The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation is one of the nation's largest repositories for rare books in the field of botany. Its holdings include many of the key rare books in the area of herbal medicine and botanical healing, with special strengths in the works of Carl Linnaeus.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History Library
The Museum of Natural History Library is one of the world's largest repositories of natural history materials. The monographic and journal collections include some of the rarest works in this diverse specialty. Many of these works overlap with various aspects of the history of medicine i.e. genetics, embryology, botanical medicine.

University Archives, University of Pittsburgh
The University Archives contains papers and other original records related to past and current faculty of the University of Pittsburgh, including the School of Medicine and the other schools of the health sciences. Other University health related documents can be found in the Archives.
