Remote Access

Pitt Users

Remote access is provided via EZProxy using your valid @pitt.edu account. When clicking the link to the e-journal or database, a Pitt Passport login box will appear. Once logged in, access will be provided until the browser is closed.

Pitt Users located in UPMC Buildings

When connecting from the UPMC network, Pitt's remote access service provides access to most HSLS resources.  For easier access, consider bookmarking the above link.

UPMC Users

UPMC users are encouraged to use the streamlined UPMC Health Sciences Digital Library* which provides access to the collection of resources available to UPMC.

* Please note that this link works only from a computer/device that’s connected to the UPMC network.

Remote access to the UPMC Health Sciences Digital Library is provided via UPMC MyApps. For questions about remote access permission, check with your supervisor or coordinator. For technical assistance with MyApps, please call the UPMC Help Desk at 412-647-HELP (4357).

Having Trouble Logging in with Pitt’s Remote Access Service?

Remote access for library resources requires a valid Pitt username and password, plus a second method of verification through an app or phone line. Information on designating your second method of authentication can be found on the Multifactor Authentication at Pitt web page. If you need help logging in, please contact the Pitt Help Desk at 412-624-HELP (4357).

If you are able to log in using Multifactor Authentication but cannot view the library resource you are trying to access, please contact the Health Sciences Library System at 412-648-8866 or through Ask-a-Librarian.

Remote access tip for Pitt users

Reload via HSLS

If you often come across online article citations, but cannot view the full text because you are not logged in remotely to the HSLS Web site, then set up "Reload via HSLS" on your computer. "Reload via HSLS" provides instant access to full-text articles that are available through HSLS subscriptions.

For desktop and laptop computers:

  • Drag the "Reload via HSLS" bookmarklet link above to your Web browser's bookmarks toolbar.
  • When viewing an article citation, click on the bookmarklet in your toolbar.
  • The Pitt remote access login box will appear. Enter your login information to have access to the full text if HSLS has a subscription to the article.
